For Melody La Rue, home is more than a place, it’s the foundation for stability and belonging. With more than 25 years in property management, she brings both expertise and heart to her role with Guardian Management, a key partner of Catholic Charities of Oregon. Since 2025, Melody has helped support housing communities across the state, ensuring more people have a place to call home.

Originally from Oklahoma, Melody has lived in the Pacific Northwest since 1991 and has called Oregon home since 2005. With more than 25 years of experience in property management, she has managed communities throughout the West Coast and finds great fulfillment in helping people find a place to call home. She has a deep appreciation for the Oregon Coast and tries to spend as much free time there, as possible. Introduced to Catholic Charities of Oregon in 2025, Melody is honored to support and partner with them in their housing mission.

Name:  Melody La Rue

Role with Catholic Charities (staff, board, volunteer, partner, client): Vice President of Property Operations for Guardian Management; a proud partner with Catholic Charities.

Year you first connected with Catholic Charities: 2025

How did you hear about Catholic Charities of Oregon, and what prompted you to get involved? I joined Guardian Management in September 2025 and was introduced to Catholic Charities  at that time, as we are the management company for the multi-family portfolio of properties that Catholic Charities owns.

What does being part of Catholic Charities/Catholic Social Teaching mean to you personally? I am proud to be part of the mission and good work that Catholic Charities is doing in our state.

What’s one story or moment from your time with Catholic Charities that you’ll never forget? I attended the Celebration of Hope Gala for the first time this year.  I was in awe of the generosity in the room.  Not only the financial contributors but the support of the community and the mission.  It was a wonderful event.

What activities, situations or people most inspire you? I am inspired by seeing people help and care for other people.  I think that is why I enjoy and have been in the property management business for 20-plus years.  Helping people find a home is everything.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to get involved—whether through volunteering, donating or seeking support? Just do it.  Every contribution matters. Start small.

What’s your favorite book, movie, TV show, podcast or social media account—and why? (Pick one!) I am a Star Wars fan.  I have read some of the books and seen all the movies, at least 3 times.  I am not sure why I like it so much.  Maybe it is the “Good versus Evil” and “Good” will prevail.

What’s on your personal “bucket list”—something you still hope to do, learn or experience? I would love to travel abroad.  Ireland and Scotland are top of my list.
