Regence employees demonstrated support for Catholic Charities with a recent contribution of more than $43,500. This gift resulted from the company’s annual two-week fundraising drive, which reached a record-breaking $1.5 million for nonprofits in all four states — Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Utah — served by Regence plans. In the campaign, employees could designate any charitable nonprofit as a recipient, and Regence matched their pledge at a rate of 50 percent. Among the more than 800 organizations that employees selected for their pledges, Catholic Charities had strong support, ranking in the top supported causes in our area. Regence’s giving philosophy calls on all employees to be an active participant in changing the local community for the better. Catholic Charities is one of Regence’s Community Partner Organizations, and Regence is proud that so many employees chose to join in their support. In Oregon, employee donations also supported the Oregon Food Bank, Boys & Girls Clubs, Albertina Kerr Centers and the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

To mark the 10th anniversary of his assignment to western Oregon, Archbishop John Vlazny awarded nine priests with the honorary title of monsignor and conveyed papal honors on several community members, including Catholic Charities Executive Director Dennis Keenan. The service was held on Sunday, January 13th at St. Mary Cathedral in Northwest Portland. Dennis Keenan has served for 19 years as Executive Director of Catholic Charities. During his tenure, the social services offered by Catholic Charities have expanded greatly. We thank Dennis for his dedicated service and congratulate him on this honor.
